Maryland Substation
Newcastle, New South Wales
Cardno Stanwill was commissioned by Energy Australia to improve the electricity supply to the expanding residential area.
- The project involved building on a difficult site with collapsed mine workings and deep fill
- Structural input in to the criteria for grouting of the mined seam
- Civil design including pad design, drainage, access road and fire trail
- Structural design including piling through fill, a grid foundation to reduce the risk of differential settlement, fire walls and building structural details
- Civil and structural inspection of works during construction for certification.
Nikkinba Ridge Estate
Fletcher, New South Wales
Commissioned by Daromin Pty Ltd, a major Newcastle developer of residential and industrial land, Cardno Stanwill undertook engineering design over a three year period for the 250 lot residential subdivision.
- Civil design for site works, roads and signalised intersection
- Stormwater management design including street systems and water quality treatment
- Structural design of pond structures.
Beltana Highwall Mining
Singleton, New South Wales
As part of the underground mine development access to long wall panels is continuously relocated and requires conveyor systems to transfer coal from the mine. Cardno Stanwill undertook the structural design and documentation for a number of clients on the site including Roche, Beltana, Continental Conveyor, Walter Constructions and McKajj Services.
- Design works have been over an extended period from the mine development to the present
- Conveyor structures and foundations
- Design included maingate MG1 to MG11 overland conveyors and transfer structures.
Newpac Mine
Ravensworth, New South Wales
Cardno Stanwill was engaged by CMOP, Resource Pacific and McKajj Services to carry out the structural design associated with the upgrade of the coal washery and product feed.
- Concept design for new conveyors
- Design of various new structures for tailings lines
- Structural audit of existing structures including finite element analysis of a 1,000 tonne steel bin.
